At K&R Collective, we believe in lasting beauty — in products that hold meaning, serve a purpose, and stand the test of time. Our Camphor Laurel timber boards are a perfect example. Naturally antibacterial and uniquely Australian, each piece is as practical as it is beautiful.
Whether you’re prepping meals or serving up something special, your timber board deserves a little care to stay in its best shape for years to come.
Here’s how to care for it the right way.
1. Gentle Cleaning Goes a Long Way
After each use, wash your board with warm, soapy water. Rinse it well and dry immediately with a soft towel.
Don’t soak it or pop it in the dishwasher — too much water or heat can cause the timber to warp or crack.
2. Let It Dry Fully
Camphor Laurel is a natural material and needs airflow to stay in good condition. Always make sure your board is completely dry before storing.
We recommend storing it upright or somewhere it can breathe — not in a closed, damp space.
3. Optional Oiling for Extra Nourishment
Although it’s not essential, occasionally treating your board with food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner can help protect the timber and highlight its stunning grain.
Just rub in a light layer of oil with a soft cloth, leave it overnight, then wipe off any excess.
4. Keep Things Safe & Hygienic
Camphor Laurel naturally resists bacteria — it’s one of the reasons we love it. Still, we suggest using separate boards for raw meat to avoid any risk of cross-contamination.
Avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals or abrasive pads — they can damage the wood’s surface.
Why We Love Camphor Laurel
Sustainably sourced and uniquely Australian, Camphor Laurel timber has a rich grain, a gentle aroma, and strong antibacterial properties. No two boards are the same — each one tells its own story.
With the right care, your board will age beautifully and become one of those everyday essentials you reach for time and again. It’s more than just a kitchen tool — it’s a little piece of craftsmanship that adds warmth, character, and meaning to your space.
